Local Realtors and Distressed Property Experts Share Advice for Homeowners with Course at College of Marin

Seminar by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage sales associates to educate and offer options to homeowners underwater on their homes

Margaret Kapranos and Susan Paul, Certified Distressed Property Experts and sales associates with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Greenbrae office, announced today that they will be holding a class for homeowners who owe more on their house than it is worth.  The course, entitled “The Trials of Home Ownership: How to Get Out From Under,” will be held Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Harlan Center on the Kentfield Campus of the College of Marin.

Before having to make difficult decisions, homeowners will learn about their options including loan modifications, short sales, deed-in-lieu, forbearance and credit repair.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their existing loan documents and personal budgets to class to learn more about their current loan and possible loan modifications.

“It is often a difficult and scary situation that homeowners find themselves in when they are underwater on their house,” said Kapranos.  “Our goal with this class is to help educate homeowners so they don’t end up making a decision that may cost them their credit score, savings or retirement funds.  There are alternatives to foreclosure and bankruptcy and we want to make people aware of those options without making costly mistakes.”

To register for the course, please visit www.marin.edu/communityeducation.  For more information, please contact Kapranos and Paul at 415.464.4329, via e-mail at info@ShortSaleInMarin.com or through their website at www.ShortSaleInMarin.com.  Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Greenbrae is located at 350 Bon Air Center Suite 108 and may be reached at 415.461.3220.
