The Roseville-Granite Bay office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage announced today that it raised $2,550 for the Placer County chapter of the Salvation Army at its chili cook off fundraiser held Wednesday, May 11 at the office located at 2270 Roseville Blvd. in Roseville.
More than 175 people turned out to sample 12 chili recipes submitted by sales associates and members of the local business community. They voted for their favorite dishes and awards were presented to winners in several categories, including Suson Lavore, of Brower Mechanical, for hottest chili; Curtis Harding, of Delta Sierra Pools, for most creative chili; and Jane deKelaita, sales associate with the Roseville-Granite Bay office, for people’s choice.
The money raised will be donated to the Placer County chapter of the Salvation Army to purchase food for its food closet.
“The chili cook off was a wonderful way to raise money for the Salvation Army,” said Ollie Nordby, manager of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Roseville. “We had a great turn out of people from the community and local businesses who were enthusiastic to try the chili and choose their favorites. It’s only fitting that money raised from an event centered around delicious food, goes to support an organization that helps feed so many in Placer County. We’re happy we could help.”
